Call for Papers: Special Issue on "Intelligent Algorithms Empowering Agricultural Engineering"

Background and Scope:

Global agriculture faces intensifying challenges including resource constraints, labor shortages, and climate change. Intelligent technologies—centered on Artificial Intelligence (AI), deep learning, and advanced computational algorithms—are fundamentally reshaping traditional agricultural engineering paradigms. Smart agriculture now transcends mere integration of information platforms; it represents a systemic revolution driven by algorithms, data, and engineering implementation.

In practice, AI technologies are extensively deployed across critical domains such as:

  • Crop growth monitoring & intelligent sensing
  • Pest/disease identification & precision irrigation
  • Autonomous machinery operation & precision harvesting
  • Agricultural product quality inspection & greenhouse climate control

These applications demand not only algorithmic accuracy but also robustness, real-time performance, and field adaptability in complex agricultural environments. This special issue focuses on the deep integration of AI algorithms with agricultural engineering systems, emphasizing the "lab-to-field" transition. We aim to advance smart agriculture from visualization to practical usability, controllability, and optimization.
